Defense Refresh Setting Mist SPF 50 is one of our most popular products ever – and for good reason! But how exactly should you apply a setting mist with SPF? Learn the right way, right here.
The 411 on Defense Refresh Setting Mist
Before we get into the how-to, let’s go into a quick recap on what makes Defense Refresh Setting Mist so special. For starters, it’s one of the only makeup setting sprays with SPF – and the right amount of SPF, at that. (Reminder: Derms recommend wearing SPF 30 to 50 on a daily basis – and this formula has an SPF of 40.)
This formula also leaves behind a natural finish over makeup and helps hold everything in place (foundation, mascara, lipstick) so there’s no smearing, running or fading. The ingredients are also super clean––they include rosemary and peppermint oils instead of synthetic fragrances, to give you the perfect pick-you-up, along with a skin-soothing effect. Finally, our makeup setting mist makes it super easy to reapply your SPF every two hours throughout the day. (For a quick reminder on why you need to reapply, click here.)
Now, let’s get into exactly how to use this fan favorite…
Step 1: Shake, shake, shake…
Be sure to give the bottle a good shake in order to mix all of the particles together, so that there’s an even dispersion of ingredients when you spray it on. The formula is considered “bi-phase,” which means if the component was clear, you would notice two distinctly different liquids (kind of like oil and water).
If you don’t shake it properly, the thicker part of the formula (the one that actually sets makeup) could end up going onto your skin solo – without SPF. It could also clog the actuator. Note: If this ends up happening to you, then just run the nozzle under hot water and it should go right back to normal. Then remember to shake before use!
Step 2: Pull your hair back and close your eyes.
Keep your hair out of your face before you’re about to spritz. Also, make sure your eyes are closed before, during and a few seconds after you spray Defense Refresh on. Since there are SPF actives in the formula, you don’t want to get that in your eyes.
Step 3: Spray seven to 10 times, eight to 10 inches away, in a circular motion.
Applying this mist is the perfect pick-you-up in more ways than one, because there’s nothing quite like knowing that you’re easily getting the SPF protection your skin needs – while not messing with your makeup in the process.
Step 4: Enjoy!
Have fun in the sunshine with your makeup intact and your skin protected.
